Happy Thursday everyone! One more day to the weekend! 🙂
So one of my favorite things to do is paint my nails. The biggest annoyance with doing your own nails is getting it on your skin. The next annoyance is the drying factor. After a base coat, two coats of color, and then a top coat, it takes FOREVER to dry. For years it seemed that no matter what I did, it was never long enough. I would always get an indention or smudge in the paint.
But now these annoyances aren’t factors for me anymore! I’ve learned a few tricks and want to share them with you.
1) For drying your nails: after you finish with each coat, stick your fingers in a bowl of ice cold water for 2-3 minutes. The cold water hardens the polish and seriously helps with the drying factor. You can either do this with each individual coat or do it at the very end. If you wait until you are done with all of your coats you may have to keep your fingers in the cold water for longer. Just be careful with the temperature of the water and how long you keep your fingers in there…we don’t want frostbite!
2) Another tip in drying your nails is a product that has become a personal favorite of mine. Seche fast drying top coat. This stuff is so amazing. It takes minutes to dry all three or four coats of your nail polish. It costs about $10 a bottle but is well worth it. If you don’t feel like sticking your fingers in cold water and have an extra ten bucks to spend run to Target, Sephora, Ulta, or Walgreensand grab a bottle!
3) So to tackle the factor of getting the nail color on your skin. Its near impossible to avoid this. So the best thing I have found is to always paint your nails at the end of the day or at night. The next morning take a hot shower and while in the shower the heat will help you rub the excess color off of your skin. You don’t need any product to do this, just rub it right off with your finger. Doing this paired with the Seche top coat it looks like you paid big bucks for a manicure!
