Superbowl Sunday…why we really watch

For Top Pick Tuesday, I couldn’t think of anything more perfect to write about than the Superbowl. No, not the game, but what really matters…the commercials!

I mean if a company is going to pay $4 million for a 30 second spot, it better be worth it, right?! In my head (which is reality to me) a quarter of viewers watch for the actual game, another quarter for the halftime show, and half of viewers watch for the commercials. This year’s Superbowl had a total of 114.5 million viewers making it the most watched show in U.S. television history. Let me say that again….the most watched show in U.S. television history! There are roughly 316 million people that live in America and a third of them watched the Superbowl. Crazy!! Am I the only one who wants to know what everyone else was doing?

Ok back to the subject at hand. There were some pretty awesome commercials this year. I always look forward to the Budweiser ads, and this year they didn’t disappoint! I also loved the commercials by Jeep and Carnival cruise line. Oh, and how about the Katie Couric and Bryant Gumbel BMW commercial? That was freaking brilliant. Here is an archive of all the 2015 Super Bowl commercials if you want to check them out.

For me, the one that took the cake, was the Nationwide commercial staring Mindy Kaling.

To me this commercial was perfection. It had humor, Julia Roberts as the voiceover, was memorable and it actually made its point, “join the nation that sees you as a priority”! I watched that commercial 3,000 times. I mean not really but it was close. My favorite part was when she looks at Matt Damon with bewilderment and says, “can you see me!?”. Love it.

I hope you enjoyed my top pick. What were your favorites?!
