Black and Navy. A Combo WORTH Keeping!

Happy Tips n’ Tricks Thursday! One day closer to the weekend. 🙂

One of my favorite combos, fashion wise, is black and navy. I think that it can look so sleek and chic paired together. I remember years ago people talking about the pairing and referring to it as a “bruise”. Well guess what people, that rule is old, antiquated and worth breaking! Now the look is totally appropriate and so versatile. You can wear the pairing to work, on a date, or for a casual day over the weekend.

Here are a few tips to think about when pairing black and navy.

1) Be confident: Remember that black and blue are neutrals and can be worn together. To start try pairing black pants with a navy blue top.

2) Layer: Often times when the color is so similar layering can help break up the outfit and show that you are very intentional about wearing the color combo. A great idea is a navy dress with a black blazer. Or black pants, a black top, and navy blazer on top.

3)Don’t be afraid: Throw in other neutral colors such as grey, brown, white, or cream.

4) Mix it up: When you get really adventurous with combining black and blue start mixing patterns, textures, and a pop of color. i.e. leather and denim, silk and wool. I love a pop of color being my nails, shoes, or my purse.
